Jump to Recipe This easy honey chipotle mayo is a fantastic topping for anything from tacos to burrito bowls. It's sweet, spicy, smoky, and full of intense flavors but at the same time not harsh at all. You can easily make it in 5 minutes with pantry ingredients.
Reader comment: "Wow, this sauce was fantastic! … I made corn tamale cakes and this was the perfect sauce."
Recipe ingredients and notes:
- Instead of the more commonly used lime juice I opted for rice vinegar in this recipe. Rice vinegar isn't as harsh as lime juice but still adds a delicious tartness that works great with the other flavors.
- This sauce is mildly spicy from the chipotle pepper and the adobo sauce. If you prefer it more or less spicy, use more or less adobo sauce and chipotle pepper to taste.
- You only need a small amount of chipotle peppers and adobo sauce for this recipe. Check out these recipes with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce for ideas how to use the rest of the can.
How to make it:
Step 1. Finely chop chipotle pepper.
Step 2. Add all ingredients to a bowl.
Step 3. Whisk together.
What to serve it with:
- This mayo is incredible as a taco sauce. Drizzle it on shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, pork or shrimp and chorizo tacos. (If you're making grilled shrimp tacos I recommend this chipotle lime seasoning for the shrimp. Its flavors are perfect with this chipotle mayo.)
- You can also use this mayo on just about any other Mexican-inspired meal. Think burrito and taco bowls, nachos, quesadillas and more!
- This sauce also makes a great salad dressing, especially for a meat salad.
