Spice up your meat, seafood and vegetables with this delicious, flavorful and spicy Cuban-inspired spice rub. It’s made with herbs and spices commonly used in Cuban cuisine, including garlic, onion, black pepper, oregano and cumin. In addition to that I added chipotle powder to give the blend a nice smoki- and spiciness.

Cuban seasoning in a glass jar.

What's in the spice rub?

This spice rub is full of delicious and powerful flavors typical of Latin American cuisine. It's peppery, earthy, a little bit smoky and also quite spicy.

Oregano, chipotle powder, pepper, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, cumin and garlic powder.

How to use it:

Rub this spice blend on meat or seafood and grill or fry. (I find it particularly good on fried shrimp.) You can also sprinkle it on potatoes and other vegetables.

How spicy is it?

This dry rub is quite spicy!
