Spice up your meat, seafood and vegetables with this delicious, flavorful and spicy Cuban-inspired spice rub! It’s made with herbs and spices commonly used in Cuban cuisine, including garlic, onion, black pepper, oregano and cumin. In addition to that I added chipotle powder to give the blend a nice smoki- and spiciness.
What's in the spice rub?
This spice rub is full of delicious and powerful flavors typical of Latin American cuisine. It's peppery, earthy, a little bit smoky and also quite spicy.
How to use it:
Rub this spice blend on meat or seafood and grill or fry. (I find it particularly good on fried shrimp!) You can also sprinkle it on potatoes and other vegetables.
How to store it:
Store this rub in a glass jar in the kitchen cabinet. It will be good for at least 6 months.
How spicy is it?
This dry rub is quite spicy!

Cuban-Inspired Spice Rub Recipe
Equipment:
- measuring spoons
- glass jar with lid
Ingredients:
- 4 teaspoons garlic powder
- 4 teaspoons onion powder
- 4 teaspoons dried oregano
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons chipotle powder
- ¼ teaspoon light brown sugar
Instructions:
- Mix all ingredients together until well combined and store in a closed jar in the kitchen cabinet.
