This chipotle bbq aioli is a great burger spread or dipping sauce for sweet potato fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets and more. It's smoky, spicy, sweet and tangy and made with chipotle powder, bbq sauce, mayonnaise and garlic.

My ingredient notes:
- I tested this recipe with a few different barbecue sauces and liked Sweet Baby Rays Original BBQ Sauce the best. It had the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors for this aioli.
- There is no need for lemon juice or vinegar in this recipe because the bbq sauce provides just the right amount of acidity. (That is also the reason why I used chipotle powder, rather than chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. The canned peppers are quite acidic and would have made the aioli too tangy.)
- Note that aioli was traditionally an emulsion of just olive oil and garlic. Over time, the definition of the sauce has broadened and it now includes flavored garlic mayonnaise sauces, such as this one.
