Shrimp Seasoning with Dried Lemon Zest

This lemon and herb shrimp seasoning has a delicious savory flavor from basil, marjoram, oregano, garlic powder and onion powder. The herbs are perfectly balanced by dried lemon zest and a bit of spiciness from crushed red pepper flakes.

Recipe ingredients and notes:

• Crushed red pepper flakes add nice concentrated bursts of heat to this seasoning. If you prefer a more uniform spiciness, you can substitute cayenne pepper. (Use about ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper instead of ¾ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes.)
• You need the zest of 1 medium-sized lemon for this recipe.

1. Thoroughly wash and dry a lemon.
2. Zest the lemon.
3. Let the zest dry (about 1 day).
4. Add all herbs, spices and the dried lemon zest to a jar. Put on the lid and shake until well combined.

1. Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.
2. Lightly brush shrimp with mild olive oil, then set on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
3. Sprinkle shrimp with seasoning.
4. Bake at 400 degrees F. until opaque (5 to 8 minutes depending on the size of the shrimp). Serve the shrimp by themselves as an appetizer or use them in pasta dishes.
