This smooth and creamy Bourbon cream cheese frosting is excellent on carrot cake and spice cake. It has a distinct but subtle Bourbon flavor that is contrasted by the sweet fruitiness of the apricot preserves.
My ingredient notes:
I came up with this recipe because I wanted to add a bit more complexity to a straight-forward Bourbon cream cheese frosting. Bourbon and apricot are a classic pairing, so I added apricot preserves and that worked amazingly well. The preserves add not only an additional layer of flavor but they also tone down the harshness of the alcohol flavor.
