These easy spicy basil shrimp are marinated in olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and zest, salt, fresh basil and red pepper flakes. They are full of delicious flavor and super easy to make. Serve them by themselves or with a slice of baguette.

Use shrimp designated as large:
I recommend large shrimp (between 31 to 40 shrimp per pound) for this recipe. You can use smaller shrimp but I don't recommend using any larger sizes. That's because you want to keep the cook time brief so the basil doesn't burn during the cooking process.

Spicy Basil Marinated Shrimp
Add some delicious fresh and spicy flavors to shrimp with this quick and easy spicy basil shrimp recipe.

For the marinade:
- Mix all marinade ingredients together in a bowl.
For the shrimp:
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels, then add them to the marinade. Make sure they are well coated on all sides.
- Marinate in the fridge for 10 minutes.
- Heat an empty, large cast iron pan on high heat for 3 minutes.
- Transfer the shrimp, one by one, to the hot pan. (Be sure to keep as much marinade on the shrimp as possible.)
- After you've transferred the last shrimp to the pan, start turning the ones you added first. Cook all shrimp until they are opaque in the center (about 2 minutes per side).
- Transfer the shrimp to plates, sprinkle with lemon juice and serve by themselves or with baguette.
