Chipotle Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

mild olive oil

finely diced white or yellow onion

garlic clove, peeled and minced or pressed through a garlic press

teaspoon
dried oregano
▢

teaspoon
chipotle powder

canned crushed tomatoes

Instructions:
Heat olive oil in a pan or pot until shimmering.
1 ½ teaspoons mild olive oil
Add the onion and cook on medium heat until starting to soften (about 2 minutes).
1 tablespoon finely diced white or yellow onion
Stir in the garlic and cook until starting to brown (about 1 minute).
1 garlic clove, peeled and minced or pressed through a garlic press
Stir in oregano and chipotle powder and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

½ teaspoon chipotle powder
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and the salt and cook until heated through.
¾ cup canned crushed tomatoes,
¼ teaspoon salt
Let cool for a few minutes. Spread on raw pizza dough or transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Recipe notes:
This pizza sauce is great with shredded chicken, mozzarella cheese, black olives and red onion.
