Recipes with Pumpkin Spice
Pumpkin spice is the classic fall spice blend. You know that cool and crisp mornings and golden leaves are near when the aroma of pumpkin spice is in the air at the nearest coffee shop.
Made with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, allspice, ginger and sometimes mace,* the blend started out as one of the ingredients used to make pumpkin pie. (And that's why its name is technically pumpkin pie spice.)
But, of course, pumpkin spice can do so much more than just flavor pumpkin pie. You can add it to classic banana bread, spice Irish coffee with it or bake it into cookies. The blend is also great with chocolate and, of course, there is the iconic pumpkin spice latte.
*Mace is a red-brown skin that covers the nutmeg seed.
