Hi everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season. I also hope you aren’t tired of sweets because I’ve got some incredible baked donuts here.
They are light and fluffy, flavored with cardamom, brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Sounds good? It is!
How to make the cardamom donuts:
You’ll need two 6-cavity donut pans for this recipe.
If you only have one pan and don’t want to get a second one, you can cut this recipe in half but you’ll see there is one egg in there.
Now, here is what I do when I need to use half an egg: I crack one egg into a small bowl and whisk it lightly with a fork. Then I’ll use one half of that whisked egg for my batter (I usually eyeball it but you can measure it with a spoon measure) and the other half I just quickly fry in a little bit of butter and eat as a snack.
I’ve tested this method for this recipe and it works, so that’s an option.
Now on to how to make the batter: you start by whisking your dry ingredients (flour, cardamom, baking powder and salt) together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, you whisk together the egg and the sugar, add milk and melted butter, followed by your dry ingredients. Done!
You fill the batter into the nonstick-sprayed donut pan(s) and bake the donuts for 12 to 15 minutes.
Once the donuts have cooled you coat them and you’re all set!
